"St. Paul's Home is kept the way that I would like my own home to appear. The halls and rooms are clean and orderly, the laundry is clean and fresh, and the food is nutritious and tasty and the home is kept in good maintenance repair. The residents have access to church services, a phone, newspaper and other reading materials as well as the availability to a beautician and barber. And, of course, a highly qualified staff meets their health concerns.
Although all of these things are extremely important there is one more thing that would be a valuable point if I were placing a loved one in a nursing facility. Our residents are treated with the highest amount of dignity. Our staff sees that our residents are dressed appropriately, that they are clean and their hair is neat. If an accident or a spill does occur, they are returned to their rooms for personal care. No matter what their cognitive ability is, the staff speaks to them in a respectful and appropriate manner. They are not talked down to just because they are not able to verbally respond. Each person is provided with his or her privacy. The residents are encouraged to participate in the activities presented here at St. Paul's, however if they have never enjoyed doing crafts, a simple "I don't care to" is accepted.
All of us may have a loved one, or perhaps someday ourselves, that may not be able to continue to take care of ourselves or run our own homes. But moving to a nursing home should be presented as moving from one residence to another one where there are not so many daily demands upon us. We may need daily care but we will always deserve Dignity."

"One of the strengths for St. Paul's Home is the longevity of the staff, especially the Supervisors. I think it is important for people to know that their loved ones will be taken care of by staff who are not only skilled but also experienced and dedicated!"

"To Nurses and Staff, My heartfelt thanks to each and everyone for all your kindness and the loving care of Bill. Through the time you cared for Bill you lightened my burden. Without your help I never would have made it. I appreciate all that you have done. May God bless you. I will always remember you." Eleanor

"It has been nearly a month since my mother died. Of course, I am still thinking about her a lot. I was with our daughter in California and her newborn when I heard that mother was failing. I was in a plane on my way home when she died and will always regret that I was not able to be with her.
I wanted to write because I will always be grateful, also. Grateful for the love and care that she received over her years at St. Paul's Home, grateful for the good life she had, and grateful that she was my mother.
Thank you to everyone who cared for her, for all the smiles and kind words. Thank you also to Mr. Peters for attending the funeral."

"Thanks just isn't enough for all you've done over the 8 years my mom, Carrie, was there. Everyone was so nice, caring, thoughtful and dedicated-not only to her but to me. I know Mom is with God now but I miss her so. You all always went one step more. Thanks also for the lovely memorial service. It was very special and meaningful. God Bless.

Caregivers of Edna:
"Thank you for your excellent caring treatment of my mother, Edna. She was in your care for many years and you all tried to make her life easier and as pleasant as possible. It meant a lot to me to know that my mother was in the care of such kind and considerate people who made her feel special."
Thanks, Linda

The Staff of St. Paul's Nursing Home:
"On behalf of my family and I, I want to thank each one of you for the excellent care you gave to my sister, Violet, while she was in your care in the Nursing Home. Since I live so far I had to rely on her niece and nephew from Belleville to take care of her needs, which they did lovingly, and with much concern.
Whenever I made the trip to Belleville from Georgia to visit with Violet, I saw first hand the wonderful care each one of you gave her and also the other residents of the home.
You are truly "angels of mercy". I'll miss seeing all of you. Although I know Violet has gone to a better place, I miss her so much."
Lovingly, Lillian & Family

Dear Art:
"We have had a very busy month since Mom passed away, but we didn't want it to go any further without thanking you and your entire staff for the absolutely wonderful care and love you and your entire staff rendered to Mom during her lengthy stay at St. Paul's. It is impossible for us to tell you what a comfort it has been for us to know that she has been in such good hands. All of you have our undying thanks. Please pass along to all of them how much we appreciate what they did. So much has been written in the media about the problems which have occurred in various nursing facilities, but we have to say that we never once had such a concern knowing you all were there.
We are sending along a small contribution to the St. Paul's Home Foundation to help you carry on your valuable work. This has been a very trying period for us and we wish it could be more. If conditions improve, we will try to contribute more at a later time for we really do feel we are forever in your debt."
With love an thanks, Warren & Jeanne |
